Day 26....Pins Are STILL Turning! October 5, 2010

October is LOADED with birthdays...today was my cousin, Denise's birthday!  She still so young and is blessed with such a beautiful family.  I'm hoping she had a wonderful day!

This morning, I didn't get to bed until around 9:30am...Sandy wasn't due to arrive till 10am because of Juan's class tonight.  Juan and I had to gather papers to send to DSCC...that along with feeding the Luv Muffin.  He woke up all bright and cheery at 7:30am...there was lots of commotion going on, and he wanted to be a part of it!  He played in his crib for a while....with his Jungle Music Box Thingy, and his favorite stuffed animals.  He was especially fond of the panda bear that I handed down to him...it was mine since I was maybe 10 years old, from the Trolley in Fish Creek...Door County.  He doesn't really care about that at this juncture...he just thinks he's cute and loves it when I sing "panda panda panda panda PANDA bear!"  It kept making him smile.  When I finally headed to bed, Aiden was getting his first feeding of the day.  I fell asleep almost instantly...good planning on my part...I popped my Benedryl at 7am....

I woke up around 4pm, but stayed laying there till 4:30pm  I started cutting his trache tie because we previously planned on doing his trache change before Juan headed out for his class at 5:15pm.  Then Juan informed me that Aiden was sound asleep and getting his feeding...so the trache change was put on hold.  He told me all about Aiden's appointment with Early Intervention.  He had to go in to get fitted for some orthodics...and as it turned out...it was quite a traumatic experience.  Aiden cried and shook the whole time...he needed mold casts made.  Miraculously, he did not throw up.  We had no idea what to expect...I didn't go because I thought...nah...no big deal.  I guess we were all wrong!  Poor Luv Muffin!!!  So, I can see why Aiden was asleep...he was worn OUT.  He also had his pins turned at 4pm.  Once again, one side turned twice, and the other side turned 1 and 3/4 times.  I wonder when the turning will stop??  I'm looking forward to our appointment with Dr. Patel this Thursday.  Hopefully we will get a date for the removal of his pins....and then we wait for 2 or 3 months as his jaw bone completely heals till the next step in the jaw distraction process.  I hope the removal happens soon.  No more chances for infection.  I still can't believe he's gone this whole time without one!  That's our boy!  :-D

Once I was up and going, I took a nice LONG shower and did some laundry...I also popped a lasagna from Trader Joe's in the micro.  Aiden woke up around 6:40pm.  Not bad! He was a little crabby so we decided to give him some Motrin.  It helped.  He perked right up!  Good ole silly Aiden!!  Holy Moly....he looked so different...he moves his mouth a LOT.  He likes to show off his bottom teeth.  Teehee.  Before Sandy left at 8pm, I made sure I got everything in order.  I kinda planned that maybe Juan and I could try doing Aiden's trache change tonight, by ourselves.  There's no reason we couldn't!  After Sandy left, I kept Aiden entertained...and by 8:30pm,  he was getting a late dinner feeding.  He was so incredibly smiley all night.  Just SO happy.  Even while he ate.  I took some cute videos...which are down below.  After he ate, I continued to entertain Aiden.  It's so easy to do!  He played with his MooCow that honks, his fire truck, his shopping cart...everything he owns.  At one point...at around like 10pm, he wanted to go BACK into his high chair just to play with that one toy with the key board and lots of lights.  That was a FIRST!  Juan got home around 10:15pm.  He was exhausted! He even said he felt under the weather.  He does so much everyday...I could see why!

At around 10:30pm, it was time for Aiden's bath.  We decided that we would give a trache change a try.  When the time came, we recruited Ivan, Aiden's older brother, to do my part (handing everything to Juan, including the new trache)...and I was to do the nurses' part (holding up his neck).  Oh my goodness...it was a perfect trache change!!! He didn't fuss one bit!  Not one peep.  I was nervous for NOTHING!  Ivan did a great job, too.  We were relieved that we got the trache change done because his schedule is all screwy...we never know when Aiden will be napping...or if I'll be sleeping.  So, it was mission accomplished!  We finished getting Aiden ready for bed and started our nightly ritual.  He fell asleep around midnight...which isn't that bad.  He's been sleeping soundly, until now.  He somehow managed to completely flip over....his head is where his feet started out.  How that happened...I do not know.  But he's still sleeping...that's all that matters!

Well, that was another one of our exciting days. The before and after pictures are amazing, as always.  I know that the after photo of his profile isn't exactly straight, but it's still incredible.  Don't forget to watch the two movies below!  Good night, everyone!
